Its that time again to get your local Leicester Mercury to nominate your local club, sportsman, woman & coach award of the year in 2017.
- Club of the year: Unity Boxing Club, producing champions at the elite amateur and professional levels.
- Sportsman of the year: Lyon Woodstock Jnr, who has excelled in the boxing world since turning to boxing 5 years ago. Winning the Midlands super featherweight title in 2016 with a 3rd round stoppage and winning the WBO international title with a 10 rounds points win this year to get in the top 15 WBO boxing ratings.
- Sportswoman of the year: Paige Murney, GB number 1 in the 64kg category. Paige has notched up a number of elite amateur titles to be recognised as a top female fighter in Great Britain. A truly inspirational fighter who has a lot to offer other female competitors who are looking to further their own sporting careers.
- Coach of the year, Ajmal Butt (Senior Coach), Works extremely hard in the gym to put together together a set of training regimes to get the best out of his fighters. If anyone deserves a gold medal it is Ajmal.
